I didn't do any decluttering today but I did add something that is valuable to my family. You see, we lost all our chickens this spring. All 30+ of them were found with their heads separated from their bodies. At the time we also found two raccoons and one opossum in their pen. Who is the guilty party? We aren't sure. It's funny how nothing had changed in their hen house for years and then BAM apparently the critters found a way in. So...it was a sad chicken free summer on the farm. I tried to order more from several of the larger hatcheries only to find that most varieties that we were interested were sold out and no date given as to when they would be having more (which is usually how it works). I was talking to one of my best friends about this and she offered to collect eggs and incubate them at her house (even though I offered to do that here). Well...today was the day that I got to bring them home! Sixteen little bits of yellow fluff, some with chubby cheeks, that are happily chirping in the brooder box at the moment. I put it in the living room on top of the pellet stove as that isn't in use and the plexiglass front of the brooder makes for some fun watching of the chicks. :) She also sent me home with 2 large bags of Roma tomatoes and gave me a crocheting lesson, which she is GREAT at. I am working on a prayer shawl for a friend of mine who is currently going through chemotherapy for her EIGHTH ovarian cancer recurrence. She is a warrior and one of my teal sisters who I am in contact with frequently. She is amazing....anyway....I am excited to learn how to do this (will post photos on FB after it's complete and has been received) and get it to her.

Yes, it's been a good day. :)
