Glad you agree in general, ach. But your final point is misguided. I have long argued, here & elsewhere, that the prevalent use of 'football' for only one of the manifestations of that term [Rugby football, American football, Gaelic football, Oz-rules football, &c &c &c] is a loose & idle solecism. 'Soccer' for 'Association football' {analagously to to 'rugger' for 'Rugby football'} is a fine example of that rather charming C19 Oxford* affectation of abbreviating everything & then adding an '-er' at the end, which found its apotheosis in 'waggerpaggerbagger' for 'wastepaper basket'.

But a bit early in the thread for too much drift, imo -- may we get back to Mr Klopp, if you please!
