All I meant by 'not adding to our knowledge' was that most ballad scholars, if not all, are happy to accept the Craigton origin, but of course we welcome putting more meat on the bones. Anyone (IMO) nowadays who repeats anything Bert Lloyd claimed loses all credibility.

I doubt if anyone has gone into the historical detail as much as you have and I certainly commend you for this unreservedly.
