Thread Name: Tech: Interesting stuff (issues) about Windows 10
Subject: RE: Tech: More interesting stuff about Windows 10
My nextdoor neighbor has managed to get some kind of rootkit malware that will not be removed by the robust Internet security I put in place a month or two ago. And Malwarebytes sees it and removes PUP files but it's right back after the scan. So I'm doing something new that is found in Windows 8 and 10, the System Refresh.

We tried System Restore to a date a month ago, but it isn't working, the rootkit is blocking the completion of that operation. So by using refresh (or the totally draconian reset) you re-write clean Windows files over the corrupt set. Refresh leaves data in place.

It takes a while, she'll call when it finishes running. Then we'll see what it looks like. I'll have to reload Chrome and Kaspersky and such.
