The pop-up ads that appear over the face of YouTube videos are so often for unnecessary software. I'm surprised Google's YouTube would accept ads for such crap...or is it somebody other than Google/YouTube that is allowing these ads?

Despite my refusal to give our college interns administrator accounts on our staff computers, somehow they have downloaded some of that crapware onto our staff computers, and I have fits trying to get rid of it.

If you don't know the company or individual that produced the download, don't download it.
