Don,

Are you moving? Do you have the leisure to sort and donate or sell what you don't want or need?

There is a book that I recommend to people, it helps not only declutter, but decide why you're keeping the things that you are, and if you really need to. Don Aslett's Clutter's Last Stand, found easily in many used bookstores, or used online.

If you have time to approach it logically, then you might enjoy the process. If you want it all done quickly in one fell swoop, then you need to plan how you'll identify the things that go, and what to do with them (donate is fastest, and you can get a tax credit depending on garage sale prices, ebay, consignment shop, etc. - you choose but document your reasoning and keep photos and information together in your tax files).

Good luck!

My tidy kitchen made it easy to fix an impromptu meal for five this evening. We kind of scrounged around in the freezer and pantry but ended up with a pretty good spread. And now all of the dishes are washed and the counter is once again clear. But the laundry from last week still hasn't been folded, so it isn't like I was efficient in all areas of housekeeping.
