Well Mr. Fielding, I know that prior to getting the custom OOO-45, photos of a very young Mr. Rodgers show him with an O-17, and then around 1927 graduating to a OO-18, and then when he began to make serious money, he ordered the famous Blue Yodel OOO-45.
