I have only ONE pair of winter shoes (slip-ons) and ONE pair of summer sandals (ditto), but as a girl, we all wore stout leather lace-up shoes. And the way we ensured that they never came undone was to tie the bunny's ears twice. Same with our plimsolls for PE. Tie the bunny's ears twice!
