1. Keep shoes by your bed at all times. The most common injury in earthquakes is cut feet.

2. Have a strong piece of furniture to get under.

3. Don't hang pictures, mirrors, over your bed.

4. Strap down your water heater.

5. Know how to turn off your water and gas.

6. Move far from any known faults.
