Aye, there's the rub. This is the United States we're talking about, a nation with one of the highest incarceration rates in the world. For some reason, many Americans seem to think that a six-year sentence is a "slap on the wrist."

To my mind, six years is a lifetime, an adequate sentence for almost any non-violent crime.
