It's always a shock when you first learn of another passing. It is impossible to speak of Phil without also speaking of Vivian. It was usually "Phil and Vivian." He was pivotal to so very much in folk music in the Pacific Northwest. On a personal note ... he was VERY helpful to me as I was struggling to get my own archive project going. He will be missed.
