Sharp was well aware of the work of Greig and Duncan and had enough on collecting in the places he did manage to get to. I do believe he did intend to get up to Scotland and into Ireland but his helicopter broke down. If you look closely at the material Greig and Duncan collected he wasn't that far wrong with his estimate.
