Thread Name: Lyr Req: songs about hot dogs
Subject: Lyr Add: CHICKEN A LA BLUES (Cousin Joe)
Steve-o posted another version of this song on 24 Sep 2003. I have verified the following lyrics by listening to the recording which you can hear at Spotify or on YouTube. I believe this was the first recording, on Decca 48157.

CHICKEN A LA BLUES
Written by Joseph Pleasant (Cousin Joe)
As recorded by Cousin Joe, 1950.

I ate so many hot dogs, couldn't look a cold dog in the face. (2x)
I had them in chili, baby, and I had them in tomato paste.

Down in New Orleans, in the place where I was born, (2x)
I ate so many chickens till it clucks all in my bones.

Sunday, we had fried chicken; Monday, chicken a la king;
Tuesday, chicken giblets and Wednesday, chicken wings;
Thursday, chicken fricassee; Friday, chicken stew;
Sat'd'y, scrambled eggs, and you know that's chicken too.
No more hot dogs! Those days are really gone.
Now I eat so many chickens till they clucks all in my bones.
