Subject: RE: Lyr Add: The Patriot's Dream (Gordon Lightfoot)
OK, I have a question, and not just about this singer of this song though mostly: Why does he add extra syllables in, for instance:

The tuh-rain pulled away on that guh-lorious night
The duh-rummer got duh-runk and the buh-ugler got tight

In the Edmund Fitzgerald he pronounces Detroit with three syllables, but that might be a Canadian accent

But there is also the folkie habit of adding imaginary syllables, which I kinda like. Is there a reason for doing it or a word for the habit?
