Thread Name: Lyr Add: The Woman in Your Life (Alix Dobkin)
Subject: RE: Lyr Add: The Woman in Your Life (Alix Dobkin)
I was thinking about that song yesterday, along with some others, as it seems to me that Joe Offer must be revising a women's song section for Rise up Singing. I noticed his recent threads re Who are the witches, where do they come from; I Still Ain't Satisfied, Building Bridges Between Our Divisions - and was thinking what will be next. I also thought about:

You can't kill the spirit, she is like a mountain, Old and strong, she/it goes on and on and on

God gave Noah, the rainbow sign, No more fire, it's the women next time, Women's army are marching, Oh sister don't you weep.

Oh the love of a man is a wonderful thing, A comfort so warm and so fine, But if the loving you crave, makes you his slave, Then you're selling yourself down the line. Each person must have her own work to do, Each life has its own special plan, And the woman is lost who pays a great cost to be standing behind some man

... some of this songs were in the Islington Folk Club Song Book if my memory is correct

Another song I thought of from the same Alix Dobkin album has the lines "Because she's a woman I didn't think I loved her, So unexpected we just stood and smiled..."
