Congrats to you from the sleepless branch of the Mudcat. My son Brendan is 7 weeks old today so I know what you're going through. If your daughter is half as good looking as my son is they'll be breaking hearts and having blues songs written about them both for years to come. What my wife and I have done is split up the late night feedings. I get 1:00 AM and she gets 5:00 AM. Someone here at the Mudcat suggested that we treat our new little one as if they were a visitor from another planet and it's up to us to teach them the customs and language of this world. Good advise. Brendan seems to like the Segovia CD's we play for him. And don't worry that you don't know a lot of childrens songs now because Hazel doesn't know what the words mean yet. Just sing the songs you already know a little softer and slower. "Goodnight Irene" has a good melody but the lyrics are not what I plan to sing for my son. You'll have time to work on more songs later. It's a wonderful world LG - and we're the lucky SOB's that get to show it to a new generation.
