If the clicky points to a thread that doesn't exist, it raises the question "Does the clicky exist?" If it does exist and it points to the thread, then surely the thread must exist. If it doesn't exist, then you can't click on it, therefore you can't know whether or not it points to the thread which doesn't exist or not.

See, my logic is just as logical as your logic, therefore the rings don't exist so you can't run around them. SO THERE!!! ;-)
