Thread Name: BS: The Twitler Youth? (Trump address to Scouts)
Subject: RE: BS: The Twitler Youth? (Trump address to Scouts)
The Boy Scouts disavowed partisanship in their invitation to Trump to give a speech at their National Jamboree:Here's their full statement:The Boy Scouts of America is wholly non-partisan and does not promote anyone position, product, service, political candidate or philosophy. The invitation for the sitting U.S. president to visit the National Jamboree is a long-standing tradition and is in no way an endorsement of any political party or specific policies. The sitting U.S. president serves as the BSA's honorary president. It is our long-standing custom to invite the U.S. president to the National Jamboree.
That's not good enough for me. He may be President of the United States, but couldn't they have done something to prevent him from spewing his political hogwash? His performance was predictable - since we all knew what he was going to say, wasn't that good enough reason to withdraw their invitation?
As I expected, National Public Radio had a good piece on Trump's Boy Scout Travesty:
...and a satirical piece from the New Yorker about the Girl Scouts and Trump:
I gotta say one thing about Trump: with him around, there's never a dull moment. I've heard the same thing about two-year-olds and puppies.
