If you accept that the procedure is not painless, as you seem to indicate, you are simply replacing one sort of pain for another. In either case it can cause the animal suffering and in either case we chose to ignore that fact when we cook our Sunday roast. Neither standard meat nor Halal/Kosher meat is free from pain.
