They that shall see this day, and live old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say "To-morrow is Saint MOAB day,
And they will strip their sleeve and show their scars,
And say "These wounds I had on MOAB's day."
Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
But they'll remember, with advantages,
What feats they did that day. Then shall our names,
Familiar in his mouth as household words—
Amos, Bee-dubya-ell, Acme, gnu, and keberoxu,
Little Hawk and Tweed, Khandu and Rapparee —
Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb'red.
This story shall the good teach their children;
And Mudcatters shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be rememberèd-
We few, we happy few, we band of siblings;
For they to-day that sheds their pixels with me
Shall be my sibling; be they ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle their condition;
And gentlecatters everywhere now a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their personhoods cheap whilst any speaks
That posted with us upon Saint MOAB's day.
