Miss The Mississippi And You
Bill Halley

(Eb)I'm growing (C7)tired of the (Fm)big city's lights,
Tired of the (Bb7)glamour and (Eb)tired of (Ab)the (Eb)sights
(Ab) In all my (Eb)dreams (D)I (Db)am (C7)roaming once (Fm) more,
(F7) Back to my home on the (Bb7) old river shore.

(Eb) I am sad and (Eb7) weary
(Ab) Far away from (Abm6) home,
(Eb) Miss the Missis - ((Bb7)sippi and (Eb) you (Bb7) dear
(Eb) Days are dark and (Eb7) dreary
(Ab) Everywhere I roam
(Eb) Miss the Missis- ((Bb7)sippi and (Eb) you (Eb7)
(Ab) Rolling the wide world (Eb) over
(Cm) Always a - ((F7) lone and ((Bb7) blue, so blue;
(Eb) Nothing seems to (Eb7) cheer me,
(Ab) Under heaven's (Abm)dome,
(Eb) Miss the Missis- ((Bb7)sippi and (Eb) you.

Memories are bringing happy days of yore,
Miss the Mississippi and you, dear;
Mocking birds are singing round your cabin door,
Miss the Mississippi and you.
Rolling the wide world over
Always alone and blue, so blue;
Longing for my homeland,
Muddy water's shore,
Miss the Mississippi and you.

Jimmie Rodgers did pick songs that took twists and turns, but they were good songs and have a lasting quality. This is a prime example.
