I remember them both well. Harris and Appleton, who ran the Red Lion, were notorious for paying a pittance (usually by cheque) and Eric Brock, who ran the club in Poynton, was legendary for pleading poverty whilst running what was probably one of the largest clubs in the UK, the lowest admission fees and the most odorous gent's toilets.
