Here they've proposed the reintroduction of the beaver. I believe the idea is to protect against flooding in some way. But there has been some opposition. It's always a great risk plonking a new species into a habitat. Beavers lived here 900 years ago, but I'm not sure what the implications would be for our existing wildlife.
