Sorry, only just noticed this thread.Glad to see,on your web site that the club is still going strong and back at The Sun.
Regarding the post above from Nigel he is in fact correct, there was a folk club in Romford market place in the mid 1960's which was in a pub called the White Swan. It was the first club I used to attend from about 1964 through to 1966. From memory I think it was run by a guy called Vince and was on a Friday night. I do remember that they had a resident singer called Les Western. I was lucky enough to see some great performers there, mainly the well known names on the London folk scene at the time such as Cliff Aungier, Gerry Lochran,
John Foreman and Martin Windsor and Red Sullivan but also a number of visiting Americans including Doc Watson, Champion Jack Dupree and The New Lost City Ramblers.
   
I also recall an evening with Paul Simon as the guest during the time he was living in the U.K.
I dont know what happened to the club after 1966 but the White Swan pub was demolished towards the end of the 1960's due to it being unfit for habitation
Anyway I wish the current Romford folk club every success in the future.
