We are the I-Phone singers,
Starting down at our Phones,
For the words.
(I haven't gone high-tech yet, and when I'm learning a song I find that a sheet of paper offers larger print.)

It's a start, but no tune yet?
Maybe . . .


I-phone singers

We're the I-phone singers, staring at our phones
Swishing through the index, ignoring all the moans.
One day we'll try to learn the words,
We're told crib sheets are 'for the birds*'
We are the I-phone singers, in your locality.

We landed at a folk club, a dingy little room
We couldn't read our songbooks so hidden in the gloom
Then had a thought, we'll make this right,
'Cos all we need's our I-phones light.
We are the I-phone singers, with new technology.


* At least, I think it was 'birds'. I may have misheard the initial consonant.
