Senoufou, my doctor said the fungal infection under a toenail can get there when there is an injury. I have one toenail that is quite thick and needs regular trimming. I tried the doctor's cream, I tried over the counter (one almost seemed to get it, then I stubbed the damned toe again and probably reinjured it.) I figure the toenail cure isn't worth the risk of liver damage from a long-term pill.

I enjoy a hot foot soak every week or so in the summer, along with a rough washcloth and pumice scrub. Maybe it has to do with wearing sandals, but my feet seem to need a lot more attention in summer.
