At our local garden centre they had Chinese lanterns for sale (ornamental plants which have attractive papery orange fruit) The label said 'Physalis'. I went there years ago with my friend from Bingo, and sure as fate she read it out rather loudly as 'Syphalis'. You couldn't take her anywhere!
