A little more info from a second email:
Thanks!
Here's some add'l info:
Altho many people sing "ancient home of the Cree and the Cherokee" this is incorrect. The Cree were in Canada, north and West of Lake Superior. The Creek were in Georgia.
This is transcribed as "The Bottle Hill Boys" did it. The Osbornes only sing the first two lines of the chorus as an intro vs the whole chorus as an intro. Also I think the Osbornes do it in Bb.
The song is on (I think) The Bottle Hill Boys album "A Rumor in Their Own Time". There are some cuts from the album on YouTube but not Georgia Pineywoods.
They used to sing the first chorus acappello and slow, then launch into the first verse.
By the way,
The Borden's cow reference is from an old advertising campaign having to do with Borden's cows being happy and therefore producing better milk. I remember seeing it on billboards a lot when I was growing up.
