In the UK "Black" days usually signify some kind of disaster ("Black Wednesday" was when the government had to withdraw from the European Exchange Rate mechanism, with disastrous results for the economy) so far from encouraging me to go out and spend my instinctive reaction is to avoid it. Probably wisely as it mostly seems to be a con with few genuine bargains.
