I used to work for Shannon Development, the government agency responsible for promoting the Shannon Region, and met up a number of times with him over many years, first in.Shannon during his balladeer years, later in New York, where I was stationed, then a couple of times when I visited Phoenix, where he worked for Charles Keating of the Savings & Loan scandal of the 1980s.

It was always a treat to meet up and chat about Clare and other entertainers we knew in common.
