Subject: Review: Occasionals of Norfolk UK - new CD!
I am, honestly, thrilled to be able to ‘announce’, for want of a less posey word, the arrival of the Occasional Ceilidh Band’s new CD.   I make no excuse for saying that this is remarkable – it’s by no means perfect, because I’m not a great recording engineer and something this complex was well beyond my capabilities… but I really think that for a local Norfolk folk band, this breaks new ground.

Fifteen tracks, all original compositions – thirteen tunes, ranging from a Hebrew-style polka (don’t ask!) to a storming Moroccan breakdown and a five-beat Dave Brubeck-style number (from a barn-dance band!) Two new songs, one a funny item about the problems of boat-hiring on the Norfolk Broads, and the other telling the tragic true tale of Christopher and Alice Burraway, whose memorial in a Norfolk church reads: “Alice – my mother, my mistress, my sister… my wife”. And every member of the band contributed compositions. Just shows what you can do with home-recording kit.

The price is £7; in the event of a profit, there will be charitable donations. Links to two sample tracks are here (if I've got the clicky thing right!)
