I imagine someone could write a good song about a government employee affected by the shutdown, a personalised song.

The song I would write, if I can get my head around it, would be more to do with constitutional principles - the separation of powers, The Checks and Balances Breakdown Rag. Starting with how we learned about the constitution in school ... though I don't know what is on the curricula in the 21st c. nor how teaching of American history and civics varies from state to state.
