The short stories of Harlan Ellison were terribly important to me.
It's only recently that Ellison died (Mudcat has an Obit thread for him)
and in the obits and articles,
I wasn't surprised to learn that
he was very demanding and difficult to live with;
he was one of the writers whose standards raised the bar
for me as a reader and student.
