i was just thinking though...the profusion of wonderful instruments available to club players nowadays - must surely at some point lead to an improvement in the general standards,   you'd think.

the trouble seems to me - there are all sorts of tuition available to do all the fancy stuff that you need to be a contortionist to attempt. but you don't see many attempts to explain the basics of not being boring when you do a folk accompaniment on guitar. -
