Thread Name: Lyr Req: Mothers, Daughters, Wives (Judy Small)
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Mothers, Daughters, Wives (Judy Small)
Bill (Scotland) asked; "Can anyone help me find the lyrics for the great anti-war song "Mothers, daughters, wives"?" But I'd say that this song is about women's place and voice in society.

In the UK, there were conflicting views. The Suffragettes certainly did not agree with the pacifists. Emmeline and Christabel persuaded the WSPU to stop their suffrage activities until the war was over.

The Suffragette, renamed Britannia, matched the popular press in its support for the war. And the WSPU, now calling itself the Women's Party, campaigned for compulsory national service for women.
