Susan sent a list of Dick's favorite songs that might be sung at the memorial. The list is to good to miss, so I post it here:
I am thinking of some of his favorite songs. Aunt Clara was a favorite of his: he said it put him through college singing it at fraternity parties. I will sing it, unless someone else wants to. His most recent favorite seemed to be Seven Beers with the Wrong Woman. Someone else can sing that one. Some of his other favorites were:
Boomer Johnson
Coal in the Stone
Gol Darned Wheel
Normandy Orchards
Have Some Madeira
The Tenderfoot
Westport
Their Way
The Winner
Your Time’s Coming
Zebra Dun
Some of my favorite memorial songs are:
Parting Glass
What’s the Life of a Man
When I Cross the Bar (Crossing the Bar?)
Farewell Shanty (Haul away for Heaven)
Fiddler’s Green
Dick and I have been leading the ukulele group here at Brittany, Hummin’ and Strummin’, named by the previous leader. We will play and sing two songs: Simple Gifts and Home on the Range, for Dick’s interest in Shakers and cowboys.
Dick Greenhaus will live forever!
