I like a proper Caesar salad with anchovies......or, as my friend who has worked as a restaurant server calls them when she is writing down the order, "hairy fish".

Too many places here serve a salad of mixed greens - even the dreaded shredded cabbage - and shredded carrot with a quartered hard boiled egg, a few scraps of bacon, and some cut-up toast, and call it "Caesar salad". No, folks, it isn't.

A properly made Caesar salad is one of life's great joys.
