THE NEW MAN WHO COMES AROUND
(Bud Green; Tommy Tucker; John Lair)
As recorded by Terry Shand and His Orchestra, 1940, on Decca 2997 A.

CHORUS: There's a man who passes our house ev'ry single day,
Plays his little song and then goes away.
I asked the man his name and, queer as it may sound,
He told me he was just the man who comes around.

1. The man who passes our house is quite a jitterbug.
He comes to beat the carpet; he likes to cut a rug.
He beats it on the line and he beats it on the floor.
When Papa comes home, he beats it out the door. CHORUS

2. The man who passes our house repairs the Frigidaire.
He hangs around the kitchen but Sister doesn't care.
He stays all day but the time is never lost.
If he didn't come around, Sister never would defrost. CHORUS

3. The man who passes my house is the bashful beau.
Though he's a swing musician, his boiling point is low;
But Sister says he's diff'rent when he takes her for a ride,
For he's a sound sender on the Jersey side. CHORUS
