Around 1981 I was in a pub in Leitrim Ireland called Drurys, just about everyone in the room sang in turn as in a sing-around, then it came to me, I was dying to sing but had never sang in public before, anyway I closed my eyes and took a breath and sang "The Green Fields of France", at the end of which I received a lot of praise from people present, and so that was me hooked.
