Gotta say, some things are sad and sorrow is normal and making happy endings on everything "for the children" does those children a terrible disservice. Sorrow is not bad, it just needs to be dealt with. The Little Mermaid should have died like in the story, too. Raise resilient kids, don't shelter them from their own emotions. How will they deal, for instance, with your death?
