Many thanks for your input, Ewan. I agree that some verses are a bit "strong" and therefore don't fit with certain songwriters who you and I have mentioned. Alistair Hulett also crossed my mind, but sadly we can't ask him, nor several of the others mentioned. But perhaps the lyrics are "of their time" when it was deemed permissible (by some) to joke about such serious issues: I'm not sure that deliberate insult was intended.
