We belled our cats and let them out. Any bird gets caught by a belled cat does not get my sympathy.

Preposterous. "Belling" a cat does nothing whatsoever to protect other wildlife from them.

Some folks'll believe anything, no matter how ridiculous, if it makes them feel better about what they've done.
