There are going to be thirteen full moons this year! I know this because some Internet news site's headline made a big deal out of it.

According to my calculations, based on an average lunar month length of roughly 29.53 days, there will be thirteen full moons in about one year out of three.

By that website's criteria, I suppose the fact that the last day of this year falls on a Thursday is an even bigger deal since it only happens one year out of seven.
