I don't know of any television documentaries but if you are able to get hold of Dick Heckstall - Smith's autobiography "The Safest Place in the World" (later re-published as "Blowin the Blues") he mentions the Flamingo and the time scale that you are interested in quite a lot and with particular reference to Georgie Fame.
