Most towns around here eventually become something else as evidenced by road names that do tend to remain the same.

Maryland Route 5 (Leonardtown Road), which joins US 301 in Brandywine to the north and splits at the county line to bypass Waldorf on Mattawoman-Beantown Road...The sewage treatment plant is of course in former Beantown.

'Ghost' towns around here are either gentrified or left to highly populated decrepitude based mostly on race.

As for Mattawoman, it has a story lost in the fog of history along with Parnasus NJ.
