At latest report,
the Republican primary election in
Arizona's Maricopa County, for county sheriff
(Greater Metropolitan Phoenix et al.),
seems decided.
In the previous election, Democrat candidate Paul Penzone defeated
longtime incumbent Joe Arpaio.
This Democrat incumbent will face challengers in November.

This past Tuesday, two candidates fought for the Republican candidacy:
Joe Arpaio, now in his '80s,
and his former deputy, Jerry Sheridan.
Although the race was close,
Sheridan now has a 6,000+ lead, in votes, over Arpaio.
