In another thread I mentioned that I had encountered the tune used for a singing dance, "Golya, golya" (Stork, stork) at a Hungarian ceilidh in Gyimes, Transylvania. The participants were sure it was a local tune: the dance (much like a Gay Gordons) was from Felcsik nearby. I've just looked and found the words.
I think it's more likely that the tune started in the Austro-Hungarian Empire (perhaps as a band march) and migrated to the US than the other way round.
