My first two laptops were Toshibas and I was totally happy using the finger pads. Then I got an HP and the feel of the finger pad surface was horrid. When I got a refurbished (but later model) Toshiba the finger pad felt really nice again, but they had over-designed it so that different areas did different things that I didn't want done. It drove me mad, so it was back to the mouse.
