Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Good-bye, My Lover, Good-bye (T H Allen)
My grandma (born 1895 of German/Alsace-Lorraine descent) sang this to me:

“Here comes the boat around the bend,
Goodbye my lover, goodbye!
It’s all filled up with working men,
Goodbye my lover, goodbye.

Bye-o my baby! Bye-o my baby.
Bye-o my baby, Goodbye my lover,
Goodbye!”

It was a comforting song but I was afraid it was too sad too.
Circa 1963-5. When I was under seven yrs old I guess.
Thanks for solving the mystery.
