When I was 13 I was picked for the Thornleigh under-14 cricket team. One day we played Preston Catholic College at their school. I scored 29, the second-highest score of the season, and I was eventually out LBW (it was an unjust decision in m'humble, delivered by their sports teacher) after they'd used ten different bowlers against me. Also in the match I ran one of their lads out with a mighty throw from the square leg boundary, hitting the one stump directly. We won. It got me a mention in the annual school magazine. It was possibly the greatest day of my life.
